Blogs as an educational resource

The word blog comes from the joining of the words web and log. It is a type of website that is maintained by usually an individual with regular entries that may record events, have video or pictures or just contain general commentary. Entries are usually archived and are displayed in a reverse chronological order.

The use of blogs varies as blogs provide news on many different subjects, function as personal diaries, records of events and are increasingly as educational tools. As such blogs are now considered to be an invaluable educational resource, used by teachers worldwide to supplement and enrich lessons and the classroom experience. Alright so there are a lot of addicted people out there.....

No no I am not writing about crack addicts, Pot heads, Rumbos or any of the other
numerous addicts out there. I am writing about the fb addicts, for those of you who
are not familiar with the term fb you may be safe. However if immediatley you recognised
fb as facebook, I don't know how to tell you this... but as your friend as must advise you that.... you may have a problem.

So with this in mind I am gonna give you a few pointers on how to identify that you are a fb junkie:

10. Often caught online checking your fb account when you should be doing assingments.

9. You have more than 150 friends of which you have not met more than half in person.

8. You are a member of more than 20 groups and feel the urge to respond to most if not all of your invites.

7. You have dragged and dropped more than 3 of your profile photos from other profiles or sources.

6. When you wake up on mornings the first thing your mind goes to is facebook.

5. At the first mention of a break in ed tech or any classes you rush to the next available pc to check your status and updates (to which you update your status more than twice daily)

4. You have bought, are in the process of buying, or are too broke but wish you could buy a cellphone that supports facebook.

3. The last thing you think about before you go to sleep is facebook.

2. the last thing you do at night is check and update your facebook status (usually ending with you typing "goodnight facebook friends" or any other such greeting)

And yes folks numero uno

1. You have played farmville, barnyard, mafiawars, bejeweled twist or any other such facebook game to which you have become addicted

Haiti

Last year at CHOGM Prime Minister Manning joked in his keynote speech that T&T had a liquidity problem during this time of recession. Tonight he stated we would only give $1m US at this time and wait to see what else is needed as "Things are very tight financially in Trinidad and Tobago".

"I think of all the blessings T&T has, and how we have squandered them, and reflect on the constant series of disasters in Haiti, and I can only say this world is truly not a fair one." - Anon
